Celebrity stylist searches for Birmingham's best
June 15 2011
The man who gave David Beckham his infamous Mohican haircut is on the hunt for Birmingham's most talented hairdressers.
Adee Phelan, who styles a host of celebrities' hair including TV chef Marco Pierre White and Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding, is set to hold an “X Factor” style audition to recruit a team of expert coiffeurs for his new 3,500 sq ft city salon.
Dozens of hopefuls will be put through their paces by the Kings Heath-born stylist and his team of expert advisors as they bid to fill up to 50 vacancies for roles including receptionists, colourists, hair stylists, extensionists and afro specialists.
The exclusive new £850,000 salon at the £13m The Cube development will join upscale boutique Hotel Indigo, Marco Pierre White restaurant and luxury Club and Spa, all due to open towards the end of this year.
Auditions take place on the 14th floor of The Cube on July 3 between 11am and 7pm.
The new salon will be a unique hairdressing destination, the likes of which hasn’t been seen outside of London before and this is a huge opportunity for Birmingham’s best stylists to become part of that experience.
Our ideal candidates will be local people with a range of salon experience looking to take their careers to the next level, but there are also more general positions available such as receptionists. Above all they must be enthusiastic and keen to be involved in a vibrant, exciting new venue in the heart of the city.
We have already received a lot of interest from people keen to be part of this new development so we urge them to get to The Cube as early as possible, the first 100 will also receive a free goodie bag.
The Cube development will consist of a 300-seat Marco Pierre White restaurant, situated on the 25th floor, with open air terrace, a champagne bar and private lounge and dining rooms.
A 52 bedroom Hotel Indigo Birmingham, on levels 23 and 24, is set to become the pinnacle of luxury accommodation in the city.
The level five luxury Club & Spa will be the definition of urban chic and include an indoor pool, saunas, steam rooms, 10 treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, a dry flotation tank, and a state-of-the art gym.
