MARCO CHECKS IN AT DOUBLETREE TO LAUNCH SUMMER MENU

17 June 2011: Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White was in Congresbury, North Somerset to oversee the launch a new seasonal menu at his Steakhouse Bar & Grill.

The acclaimed chef was also on hand to promote the arrival of his new beer, The Governor, which is now being served at the restaurant and four-star hotel.

Opened in September 2010 at DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House the restaurant has already become a popular venue for the region's foodies and the new menu is set to tantalise the taste buds further.

A great advocate of locally produced, ethically reared and grown ingredients, much of the food served is sourced from Somerset farms with the fish coming from Devon and Cornwall.

Starters on the summer menu includes Crab Cocktail, Sauce Mayonnaise; Kipper Pate with Whisky & Melba Toast and Beetroot & Goats Cheese Salad, Walnut Dressing.

Mains include Roast Rump of Lamb, A La Dijonnaise, Pomme Dauphinoise; Belly Pork Marco Polo, Butter Beans and Spatchcock Chicken, Chipolatas, Roasting Juices, Bread Sauce.

For those wanting a classic steak they can choose from the 28-day aged t-bone, rib eye and sirloin steaks, and a range of grilled and roast meats, fish mainboards and assortment of classic pies caters for every taste.

The menu is also reflected in the style of the restaurant and guests can look forward to enjoying some "affordable glamour" as Marco puts it.

Like the great man the decor is dark and sultry, alive with his unique brand of charisma and tinged with a hint of his devilish sense of humour.

With plenty of sophistication – discreet lighting, leather table cloths, art deco candle lamps and a simple bright red gerbera centrepiece - if there's one thing this venue boasts it's ambiance, in abundance.

Paul Evans, hotel manager said:

Marco takes a lot of interest in the restaurant and is very much hands on with the menus and the food that is served. It's great for the team for him to visit and it gives everyone a real boost to have him around.

His presence alone is enough to provide inspiration to the kitchen team and we’re looking forward to welcoming guests to try the new menu.

Marco Pierre White is without doubt one of the most influential chefs the UK has ever produced and to have him visit regularly his restaurant in the South West is not only good for Cadbury House but for the region as a whole.
