One of the region's most exclusive venues, West Tower in Aughton, has been named Lancashire’s top wedding destination.
The hilltop property, which overlooks miles of rolling countryside, received the accolade after brides voted for the venue through an awards scheme with popular wedding magazine, County Brides.
The award comes 18 months after the eighteenth century country house was transformed into an exclusive wedding venue.
More than 15 awards were up for grabs at the County Brides ceremony which took place on Friday 24 June at Mere Golf and Country Club.
Brian Gamble, general manager of West Tower, said:
To be named best venue of the year is a fantastic achievement and we're all absolutely thrilled with the result, especially as it is the brides who voted.
West Tower is a stunning location and is perfect for a private, intimate wedding. The award certainly supports our decision at the back-end of 2009 to redevelop the venue and re-open as an exclusive country house that is available for private bookings only.
West Tower, which is owned by Sanguine Hospitality, boasts 16 spacious bedrooms and suites, one exquisite honeymoon suite, a ballroom and four reception rooms.
It is nestled within eight acres of beautiful Lancashire meadows and has become widely recognised as a fairy tale wedding venue.
